Hey, all. Hope you’re enjoying the snow here in New York. For a Chicago native such as myself, this is a pretty tame snowstorm, but it does remind me a bit of home. Enjoy the games tomorrow night. On behalf of a couple of my coworkers, Go Giants!
A look inside the processed / industrial food industry through a discussion of the ingredients in a Twinkie and where they come from. Pretty eye-opening to say the least. Good to know that the vitamins are made from petroleum and fermented in enormous industrial plants in China… All in all, an interesting and informative discussion of what goes on inside the industrial food complex these days. Guessing you’ll think twice the next time you think about taking down a Twinkie or some other processed treat…
Just FYI to any bosses out there who find themselves stressed out these days. If you can feel yourself being a little less patient and a bit more irritable with your employees, maybe try hitting the gym to blow off some steam. Your whole department may benefit from it, and it’s not bad for your general health either.
A beautiful infographic that illustrates the benefits of getting good sleep, and, more importantly, the costs associated with not getting enough (“you’ll die earlier, be fatter, and be worse at your job”). We all know we should be getting more sleep, but it tends to be the thing that many of us (guilty) sacrifice in the face of increasing demands on our time. Find out exactly why that’s just not a good idea.
“Solved” may be a bit of an overstatement (since it’s easier said than done), but this helpful post from Livestrong offers some great insights into how you can maximize the amount of fat you burn during your workouts (if that’s what you’re shooting for). It never hurts to be more informed about how to make your workouts more efficient (and shorter!).
A good list of reasons to eat more soup, which is particularly useful on a cold, snowy day like today. Stonesoup also offers a recipe for Green Curry of Broccoli Soup, which looks pretty delicious (the post includes a bunch of beautiful food photos and a video recipe). Just a nice looking blog in general so kudos to the author. And speaking of curry, we rolled out a Curry Coconut Chicken Soup here at Dig Inn the other day, which is pretty delicious itself.
